A New Era

What happens when the world pauses, normal routines cease, and having a good time is no longer a priority? You have an opportunity to sit at the feet of Jesus. For me, that was going on a jog that allowed me to focus my full attention on Him.
When I stopped to catch my breath, I found myself gazing into the still, silent pond. A sense of familiarity filled me as I remembered a similar moment years ago at this very pond. I was taken back to the 17 year old version of me who had recently moved from my hometown to the bustling city of Dallas. I remembered the many questions and uncertainties that filled my mind. I wondered what my future would look like. The one feeling that was never present was fear, and it was because of what the Lord spoke to me at the pond. I replayed the moment of how He settled my wandering mind with this truth: seasons change and new chapters in life begin, but He remains the same. He reassured me that He is consistent, and because of this, I could take full confidence that His plans for me in the midst of so much change were good. I felt the Lord was closer to me than ever during that time.
Years later, He was speaking the same words to me yet again. In light of the global events that are causing so much panic, He so kindly eased my worries and fears. I felt Him whisper to my heart, “this is a new era, life is going to look different, and the way of life is changing, but remember, I NEVER CHANGE.” Even though I felt the weight of what this new era would be like, He was so faithful to steady my heart with those familiar words. What a sweet feeling is to be comforted by the ultimate healer.
Definition of era: (noun) 1. a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic.
2. a system of chronology dating from a particular noteworthy event.
We are in a new era and new times that we have not faced. The natural response is worry and anxiety, but God is calling us to respond with faith. Amiga, I encourage you today to push through all the voices of panic that we see in the media. Push through your own fight to remain still, and quiet your soul. Does He have your full attention? Listen as He is calling you by name, and commissioning you to not back down, but instead, to stand in faith. Now is the time to be a light in your neighborhood, work place, friendships, and to everyone you come across. The secret to peace in the midst of so much change is Jesus. Share this secret. Share who Jesus is and what He’s done for you. Exchange your fear and uncertainty with His assurance, and His consistent, unchanging character. Step into this new beginning with FULL CONFIDENCE IN JESUS.
These times are real but SO IS OUR GOD.
xoxo,
Dezzy
